A. Master’s Program

  1. Attendance period (4 semesters) and necessary credits 24 credits + 8 research guidance credits
  2. Minimum 3.0 GPA F grade will neither appear nor be counted towards GPA on the official academic transcript. However, for scholarship awards, F grade will be counted. You should have GPA 3.0 or above to receive the Foreign Student Scholarship B or C. (Maintain GPA 3.8 or above for Foreign Student Scholarship A)

B. Ph.D. Program

  1. Attendance period(4 semesters) and necessary credits 36 credits + 8 research guidance credits
  2. Minimum 3.0 GPA

C. Integrated Master and Ph.D. Program

  1. Attendance period(8 semesters) and necessary credits 54 credits + 16(12) research guidance credits
  2. Minimum 3.0 GPA
  3. The total attendance period for the integrated Master and Ph.D. Program may be shortened by one year. (Overall GPA 4.0 or higher during entire 6 or 7 semesters, Recommendation from the tutor professor)

Comprehensive Examinations

Degree Qualification
Master’s Degree Acquired 18 or more credits and received a GPA of 3.0 or higher The comprehensive exam will be conducted every April and October.
Doctoral Degree Acquired 27 or more credits and received a GPA of 3.0 or higher
Integrated Master’s &Doctoral Program Acquired 45 or more credits and received a GPA of 3.0 or higher

Comprehensive Examinations

The Comprehensive Examinations for master’s and Ph.D. degree candidates in each major are the following.

  • ― Major in Bioresource and Ecology

    Population Ecology, Ecology of Wild Plants, Biogeochemistry, Environmental Toxicology(Master’s degree candidates choose 3 subjects, Doctoral degree candidates choose 4 subjects)

  • ― Major in Water and Soil Environment

    Advanced Topics in Soil Environmental Science, Advanced Topics in Plant and Environmental Sciences, Advanced Topics in Water Pollution, Advanced Topics in Environmental Chemistry(Master’s degree candidates choose 3 subjects, Doctoral degree candidates choose 4 subjects)

  • ― Major in Biomaterial Science and Technology

    Waste Paper Recycling, Biomass, Polysaccharide, Advanced Environmental Microbiology, Advanced Microbial Ecology, Advanced applied microbiology, Advanced Mycology, Advanced Microbial Resources, Wood Microbiology and Wood Protection, Wood Composite Products, Wood Physics and Mechanics(Master’s degree candidates choose 3 subjects, Doctoral degree candidates choose 4 subjects)

  • ― Major in Environmental Planning and Landscape Architecture

    Environmental and Forest Policies, Forest Recreation Planning and Design, Environmental Planning and Law, Advanced Environmental Planting Design, Korean Traditional Landscape Architecture, Urban Open Space Planning and Design, Advanced Out-door Furniture Design Forest Planning and Management, Advanced Remote Sensing, GIS Application in Natural Environment(Master’s degree candidates choose 3 subjects, Doctoral degree candidates choose 4 subjects)

  • ― Major in Ecological Engineering for Environmental Restoration

    Master’s degree candidate choose 3 subjects, Doctoral degree candidate choose 4 subjects from different above 4 majors.
